House Bill 1468, known as the Puppy Mill Bill, passed the Indiana House last week in a landslide vote of 81 to 14! Thank you to everyone that contacted their representative. This vote would not have been nearly as successful without you.
The bill has now entered the Senate Committee on Corrections, Criminal and Civil Matters. Because of the great success of the bill in the House, the pro-breeding lobby (including Indiana Farm Bureau, Pet Breeders Association and the Amish puppy millers) has begun to meet in great numbers to try to kill this bill in the committee. It is vital that animal lovers contact the members of this committee to let them know that you support HB 1468 and to encourage them to do the same. You can call any of them at (317)232-9400 or (800)382-9467. The committee members are as follows:
Brent Steele, Committee Chair
Mike Young, R.M.
Richard Bray
Mike Delph
Randy Head
Brent Waltz
John Waterman
Lindel Hume R.M.M.
Tim Lanane
Karen Tallian
Greg Taylor
Despite what some may claim or even believe, this bill does not affect small, responsible breeders. You can read the full bill at http://www.in.gov/legislative/bills/2009/HB/HB1468.1.html

You are wrong with your comment at the bottom of your article. It states: “Despite what some may claim or even believe, this bill does not affect small, responsible breeders.”
If you are a responsible hobby breeder and have 5 puppies within a year you would be deemed a “Commercial Breeder”. See Chapter 1, Section 7 as well as Chapter 2.
I hope this bill is voted down. If they want to create legislation for puppy mills then that’s what they need to do, but this HB 1468 is all over the place and needs to be struck down by the Indiana Senate.

Ch.1(Sec.7) is actually defining “Pet Dealer.” Ch.1 Sec.4 defines a “Commercial Dog Breeder” as “a person who maintains adult female dogs that produce ten (10) or more litters in one (1) twelve (12) month period.” If you are selling to a private dealer and not directly to the public, then the definition of “Pet Dealer” would not apply. However, even if you are selling directly to the public (as I would prefer), there are not a whole lot of regulations lined out in this bill for Pet Dealers and certainly not any that a small breeder would have a problem with (especially if you are selling directly to buyers and not through an agent such as a pet store). It just states that you have to keep a log of where the dog came from and records of their medical history. Oh, and that the records have to be made available to law enforcement. See Chapter 7.

Can you help us stop the mass murder and imprisonment of 33,000 wild horses and burros! The Wild Horse Foundation has a plan that offers a solution, but we need your help! Please stop this trail of carnage and public waste by contacting Ken Salazar at the Bureau of Land Management at the link below:

WELL… there you go. WHY wouldn’t I have a problem with some ‘law enforcement’ demanding to see my records? How about I deem YOU a drug dealer if you take any prescription meds because SOME people on perscription meds abuse the system and sell theirs to the public and then make a law that you have to make your medicine cabinet available for inspection by ‘law enforcement’ any time they feel like it.
Some of you will never see what the problem is because it doesn’t effect you personally. I have to keep my records FOREVER incase AKC would ever want to see them. THEY have the right to suspend me and demand to see my records. Law enforcement can mean any idiot animal rights freak who works for animal control and decides to come over and pick on me for no apparent reason. Its an invasion of my rights to have a litter once a year or every other and be subjected to this. This bill was supposed to be about PUPPY MILLS.. if someone sells 5 dogs in one year.. what the heck does that have to do with a Puppy mill? Stop thinking inside the little box and consider other people for a change IF you can.
You know.. some parents abuse their kids. How about a law that says that law enforcement can come into your home anytime they wish to inspect EVERY parent because ‘some’ are bad. Do you not understand the injustice of it at all? Or do you only support things that follow your own personal agenda no matter who else it invades?

Anti-animal rights Canadians are making bizarre attacks against the effort to stop the brutal seal hunt – these attacks must end!

As animal issues go the hypocrisy and deception of Surfside officials ranks highest. Use caution. Contact with officials there requires awareness of their aggressive lie tactics.
Dog gets shot at and woman gets bullet grazing her neck. Animal rights is a joke to them the bullet was meant for a dog. Unfair and wrong and its happening all over. Look at Surfside Florida. Political hypocrites rule as they lie whenever they open their mouths so beware.
You think you got problems? There are innocent dogs and people getting shot at!
Surfside Mayor Charles Burkett and Vice Mayor Howard Weinberg – closet dog haters – help to cover up a shooting at a dog? Whitewash? Under the rug? What kind of training and professionalism does this reflect what is going on maybe underneath its all about money and politicians

Check it out its incredible
An innocent dog gets shot at by a Surfside Florida officer and its not even in Surfside and the dog does not even attack or even show agressiveness
An innocent woman who happens to be a Surfside resident gets shot in the neck
Its not even in Surfside it happens in Hialeah Florida
Who goes to get their mail with a gun
Who shoots at an innocent dog and hits an innocent woman
Who pays for that “take home car” a police car given by taxpayers to officers to drive to and from work and whatever at taxpayers expense – nice –
all on video

Is it Safe to Come Out?…
Chris from Deep Roots makes some critical comments about the Coming Out For Animals call for papers, including some discussion of my thoughts on “animal activists” promoting police violence more than being targeted by it. Chris suggests I might have …
